Because it uses a glass stopcock, care must be taken: the glass‐on‐glass seal may need lubrication (depending on manufacturer) to ensure smooth operation and prevent seizure. Some manufacturers may fill the stopcock bore with grease.

The “straight bore” means the stopcock interior is a straight passage rather than needle or coned channels; this gives less flow resistance, suitable for titrations where smooth flow is desirable.

Class A burettes offer greater precision (tighter tolerances) than Class B; choose based on required accuracy of your work.
